Stevens: “I’ve presented Mimetic House and other house designs as serious research into how to build in rural Ireland - the houses are not to stand out or show off.” He goes on to discuss his translation of vernacular architecture as a site-specific process rather than a thatched-roof aesthetic. Emphatically Stevens states, “These houses and their inhabitants make a contribution to their immediate society… I do not design holiday homes.”
